Are Insect Repellent Wipes An Effective Method Of Application?
Insect repellent wipes are one way of applying the necessary chemicals to your body, along with sprays, creams, and lotions. There are also patches and bands available which contain the active ingredient needed to repel insects. The important thing to remember, though, is that a wipe can only impart a certain amount of the product to the skin. In the case of sun block, and many other products, this can be a serious disadvantage, but with insect repellent it can even be an advantage.
There have been arguments for some time now concerning both the effectiveness of natural products which offer an alternative to the standard chemical based insect repellents which are used, and the safety of synthetic insect repellents. Both of these are important issues, so it is as well to clear up any doubts before we start. Natural insect repellents can be highly effective, especially lemon eucalyptus. They do need to be applied more often, but that is offset by the fact that they are less troublesome to the skin of most people.
Natural insect repellents are effective even as protection against mosquito bites, and they are safe to use by most people. As with many other products, including most types of food, there are always going to be a few people who have a reaction against them. Rarely, however, will they react against all types of natural insect repellent. The chemical products are also fundamentally safe, with only the consideration that they can cause disturbed sleep and mental fatigue with prolonged use. The fact that there are side effects makes it a wise move to minimize the amount of chemical you use.
With insect repellent wipes and insect repellent towelettes, you can control the amount of repellent you apply to just about the most accurate degree possible. This will allow you to stay safe from bites while reducing side effects to the lowest possible level. Always bear in mind, though, that you need to allow some kind of safety margin, otherwise the amount of product you apply may not be enough to ensure that the solution remains effective. Don't be so eager to minimize use that you forget to apply enough for it to work.
Insect repellent wipes are versatile, in that they are available both with DEET and with natural solutions. It is more important to decide, in the first instance, which type of repellent you want to use, rather than worrying about the method of application. If you are going to be using a natural product, then you do need to get plenty of it into the skin, which will demand vigorous wiping. If you are using DEET, then insect repellent towelettes may be a way of keeping the product from being absorbed into the skin. DEET needs to remain on the skin to be effective, and this can be achieved with insect repellent wipes.
